Grand Theft Auto 6 was heavily leaked over the weekend, and Rockstar Games has now formally responded, claiming that it "suffered a network intrusion" that allowed someone to access game materials.

Rockstar Games Responds To GTA 6 Leaked Footage!

Rockstar games said that "an unauthorised third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems" in a statement published on Twitter. 

The following Grand Theft Auto game was featured in this "early development footage." At this moment, Rockstar stated that it does not foresee any interruptions to its live game services or any long-term effects on the progress of its existing projects.

Rockstar Games is still to confirm a release date for GTA 6, though has stated it doesn't expect the leak to derail current projects. "At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects," the developer said.

Further in its statement, Rockstar expressed its "extreme disappointment" at having any information about its next game disclosed to everyone in this manner.

Despite the leak, Rockstar assured fans that development on GTA 6 will proceed "as scheduled." The game's developer claimed that its goal is to "really exceed" players' expectations.

Rockstar Games further said that when the next game is prepared, they will appropriately introduce it to you and provide another update to everyone. They wish to express our gratitude to everyone for their unwavering support throughout this time.
